With views out over the Severn Estuary this design needed to blend the developed garden landscape with wilder, far-reaching views beyond.
Reclaimed pennant stone was used to create a large kitchen terrace and cascading double aspect steps, leading to a lower dining terrace of herringbone clay pavers, enclosed by soft herbaceous planting.
Timber and gravel were used for secondary steps and pathways further from the house. Swathes of wild-flower meadow within the rolling land-formed lawn lead the eye towards a naturalistic pond and surrounding planting, the surface of the water echoing the River Severn.
This progression of formal to natural landscaping was key to creating harmony between home and landscape.
