Overlooking the Severn estuary, the historic house went through a major renovation by MOON design and build. The country garden no longer sat in harmony with the updated layout. A sensitive and site considerate garden design was developed to meet the requirements of the house’s new owners and its rural setting.
The project was blessed with a surplus of natural pennant stone paving and this was implemented with a complimentary natural clay paver in a large kitchen terrace, cascading double aspect steps and a lower dining terrace. Blending the developed landscape with the wilder, far-reaching views was essential in creating harmony.
A combination of longer grass, wild-flower meadow and herbaceous planting beds situate the elegant Hartley Botanic glass house into the rolling landscape. Privacy along the boundary is provided by mature pleached Beech trees.
Watching the country garden mature and evolve over the seasons will be a wonderful experience.
